MeDiNova supports ‘End TB’ campaign.

World TB Day, falls on March 24th every year.   This year the theme is ‘End TB’.  The Day is designed to build public awareness about tuberculosis (TB) and the devastating health, social and economic consequences of TB and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic.

Kumar Muthalagappan, CEO of MeDiNova Research said:

“MeDiNova Research is dedicated to working towards a healthier future for all.

“Despite medical intervention and significant progress over the last decades, TB continues to be the top infectious killer worldwide, claiming over 4,500 lives a day which equates to one-and-a-half million people each year, mostly in developing countries.

“MeDiNova Research are helping to promote World TB Day and the ‘End TB’ campaign on our website to create more publicity about TB; to shine the spotlight on the disease and accelerate progress to end TB across the world.”

World TB Day also commemorates the day in 1882 when Dr Robert Koch astounded the scientific community by announcing that he had discovered the cause of tuberculosis, the TB bacillus. At the time of Koch's announcement in Berlin, TB was raging through Europe and the Americas, causing the death of one out of every seven people. Koch's discovery opened the way towards diagnosing and curing TB.
