With one in five people in the UK being classed as obese, obesity is a major health problem and has strong associations with an increased incidence of heart disease, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia and type 2 diabetes.

The obesity study conducted on site involved a double blind medication administration in conjunction with a comprehensive non-pharmacological programme to help subjects adopt a healthier lifestyle.

This programme incorporated recommendations for a calorie controlled diet, a gradual increase in physical activity, and behavioural changes required for weight loss and loss maintenance.
