This is a great opportunity for a nurse with a keen interest in clinical trials to play an important role in the advancement of new treatments.

Role Responsibility

As a Research Nurse I you will participate in the creation and maintenance of a high quality clinical research environment, to initiate and manage nursing activities related to clinical trials, from initiation to termination, according to ICH/GCP guidelines and to ensure the commercial success of the centre by recruiting and maintaining optimum patient numbers.

Your key accountabilities will be:

  • Completing all relevant clinical competency training assessments, and attending all relevant research study protocol training and completing all mandatory training, according to the MeDiNova COP’s/SOP’s
  • Performing all visits, observations, safety reporting and interventions with participants in accordance with procedures and schedule of the study protocol, company SOP’s and policies
  • Carrying out pre-screens efficiently and effectively to optimise patient recruitment
  • Encouraging patients to continue within the study, and to participate in future trials
  • Collecting, records, verifying and entering study data into the source notes, CRF/eCRF and all associated paperwork with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ensuring that all data queries are acted upon in a timely and efficient manner
  • Promoting and nurturing a welcoming, professional and pleasant environment for staff and participants
  • Participating in multidisciplinary meetings
  • Initiating emergency action when required e.g. cardiac arrest, anaphylaxis management, fire, or critical incidents

As a successful Research Nurse I, you will likely have:

  • Registration with no limitations to practice within the Nursing and Midwifery Council (Adult)
  • Broad post-registration experience
  • Some understanding of clinical research
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Relevant clinical skills
  • Strong motivation and an enthusiastic disposition

Role Responsibility

As a Senior Research Nurse you will participate in the creation and maintenance of a high quality clinical research environment, to initiate and manage nursing activities related to clinical trials, from initiation to termination, according to ICH/GCP guidelines and to ensure the commercial success of the centre by recruiting and maintaining optimum patient numbers.

In addition to your nursing duties, your key accountabilities will be:

  • Drive quality assurance measures and appropriate policies to enhance clinical research activity and successful business delivery.Facilitates and ensures effective communication, by participation in, regular clinical team, project strategy, and core study meetings.
  • You might be required to attend meetings off site to help building relationships to aid recruitment.
  • Review and research protocols, identify and coordinate training and education requirements for nursing and study coordinators.
  • Take the lead on initiating emergency action when required e.g. cardiac arrest, anaphylaxis management, fire, or critical incidents.·
  • Review and author relevant clinical SOP’s/guideline.
  • Review audit reports, complaints, initiating corrective and preventative action to ensure best practice.
  • Ensure that the clinical competency assessments and study specific training has been completed.
  • With the Support of Chief Medical Officer, embrace change, and continue to improve clinical competency and research skills to maintain and improve clinical efficiency and quality of care.
  • Work in collaboration with the Business Director and other Clinical Professionals to ensure efficient and effective allocation of resources are available to ensure research activity and clinical excellence is maintained.
  • Continuous time management review, and sign off resource and capacity requirements in association with the Business Director and Chief Medical Officer.
  • Contribute to the recruitment and retention of quality staff.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships to encourage effective team working, retention of quality staff, succession planning and Performance Management Culture.
  • Adheres to NMC Code and Scope of professional conduct.
  • Perform duties in accordance with quality standards, SOP’s, COP’s and local policies.
  • Works within the range of research guidelines, ethical principles and protocols per ICH/GCP.
  • Observes the confidentiality of patient information always, in accordance with the Data protection act.
  • Regular review of clinical procedures to ensure clinical excellence is maintained.
  • You might be required to work on another site or weekends or late nights on exceptional cases.
